Baby steps towards becoming an eco social justice activist
Step 1: Cancel Amazon Prime
Possibly not the obvious first step for most people but it makes sense to me! Stop funding billionaire rocket projects, stop having all sorts of plastic nonsense easily available, stop supporting the exploitation of workers, right through the supply chain, and stop supporting a business that runs the model of undercutting smaller competitors until they go out of business and the evil river website has a monopoly.
There’s something about the moon and the planets that means this week is a really good week to start thinking about how to bring about the world I want to live in. So, sorry Jeff, my astrologist says we need to break up, it’s not me, it’s you.
What are the baby steps from here?
No more (or probably more realistically, fewer) impulse buys. Purchases will need thinking about and planning for, free next day delivery is a thing of the past.
Try and wean myself off my Kindle until bookshop.org sort out their ebook offer. I’ve got libraries for both physical and electronic books. I will also spend a lot of time on eBay and World of Books (not abebooks though, they are owned by Jeff too)
Once my Amazon addiction is under control, I suspect the next steps will be transport and eating habits.
