In January 2021, the text below was my “about page”. Since then I’ve been on a bit of a trauma journey of my own so the about page needs to change but I don’t want to lose what I said then, it’s still relevant but not quite right….

I am an experienced project manager, facilitator and coach. I’ve been working in quality improvement in healthcare for a few years now.  Looking back at the trashfire that was 2021 (and 2020) and as we prepare to enter the bleakest winter any of us could have predicted, I find myself thinking a lot about trauma.  Everyone is living with some level of trauma; the project team, the healthcare staff we partner with and the citizens they serve. Whilst it’s never been more important to offer improved care, there must be a way for us all to work in a trauma sensitive / informed way.

My first career was in community arts where a PhD means I have both a theoretical and practical experience of working in a person centred way but applying a trauma lens to working with project teams is a new twist. I am a massive nerd so will read everything I can get my hands on, test it out in my work (in true quality improvement style) and report back on what I’m finding.

I’m hoping that what I find is that creativity, connection and (above all else) care are the key ingredients to making in building back better a reality (instead of an empty political slogan).

If “project teams looking to improve the world in a trauma sensitive / informed way” sounds like your jam, please sign up for my mailing list and I’ll drop you a note each week when I update the blog or podcast. I’d love to have fellow travellers on this exploration.
